This years 2025 version of the Gringo Classic is a wrap and turned out to be a huge success.
The event started out with the draft night at Vallarta Beers Gardens and no surprise, the Canadians out lasted the International team in alcohol consumption. Big Thank You to the staff at Vallarta Beers Gardens everyone enjoyed the tacos, cold beers, along with a few margaritas added in.
The competition started with day one, and the 4 ball event with Canada building a 6 point edge at the end of the day.
The days competition ended with a new event introduced this year a 4 hole putting contest.
Congratulations goes out to the winner Ken Wither taking home the big prize of 4000 pesos followed closely by Jean Crispo, and Bruce Gardner.
Day 2 was the individual competition, a total of 34 matches to play with team International making a big push.
With a dead lock tie after 33 matches, it came down to the final card coming in favour of Canada winning the overall event and retaining there title 78-75.
A big shout out to the team captains for their time in setting up the pairings to create a very close match. Thank you Brad St Pierre and Ron Volk representing the International team, and Wally Antoniuk and Francis Bast for the Canadian team.
As well a big thanks to Charles King for helping with the registration and Ross McDonald in his huge efforts in securing our great KP prizes as well as the organization of the Monday draft night. There is a lot of work that goes into making this event what it is and could not happen without the efforts of all these gentlemen.
Another shout out to Steve, Hector and the rest of there staff for everything they do.
Mark your calendars Feb 24/25 2026 for next years event which will be the 10th anniversary.
Plans are already being made to celebrate the 10 years of healthy competition, an event you won’t want to miss.
We have some great ideas to add to the celebration and will be looking for input from all. Please feel free to reach out with any suggestion that you may have.
Sincerely
Alan Bayliss
