Men’s Mixer – Wednesday, November 5th, 2025

Hola El Tigre Golfers,

This Wednesday will be playing a four-person team game where all teams we will be required to use three best ball net scores for all Par 3 holes, two best ball net scores for all Par 4 holes and only one best ball net score for all Par 5 holes. Please provide both gross and net scores for all players for your team along with team summary scores for the front nine, the back nine and the total 18-hole score. Also, please enter your scores in the Golf Genius software for yourself and your golf partner on the screen for each hole. In addition to keeping your scores on-line, Golf Genius will allow you to view the live leaderboard online anytime during the round to see how well your team is doing compared to the rest of the field.

Effective next Tuesday, in addition to sending out the updated pairing report that Steve always sends out to all of the players the day before our weekly event, you will also receive an additional document that will provide an alphabetical listing of all players signed up to play the following day that will include their handicap and the set of tees that the golf genius system expects they will be playing from. Please review this information to make sure it is correct, and if there any issues please notify the money collector (Alan Bayliss), so that we can correct the information in the golf genius software, before you tee off next Wednesday. We are working hard to make sure that the information displayed in the golf genius software is 100% consistent with the information that you enter in your scoring summary sheets.

Remember to circle any player in your group that had a natural birdie on any of the Par 3 holes.

Lastly, please remember to rake out any bunkers you may have entered and repair all divots.

Good luck to all golfers!

Markus

Announcement Concerning the Passing of Jim Von Gremp

Hola El Tigre Golfers,

This morning, I received tragic news concerning the passing of our dear friend and fellow golfer, Jim Von Gremp. As many of you might know, Jim had valiantly fought a long battle with cancer for the last 6+ years. In addition to being a good friend, Jim was also a neighbor of mine at Playa Royale and we spent many years working together in various governance roles in support of the greater Playa Royale community. Jim is survived by his wife Susan who was always Jim’s anchor and soulmate throughout their marriage and especially during his long and difficult battle with cancer. Susan provided many of us with regular updates concerning Jim’s ever evolving cancer odyssey, for which we were always very grateful for. Jim was much loved and admired by all golfers and he will be sorely missed by all of us. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Susan and the family.

We will have an opportunity early next year to have a formal Memorial golf event where we will be able to remember and pay tribute to Jim, as well as other fellow golfers that have recently passed.  Additional information concerning this event will be forthcoming later this year.

With deep sorrow,

Markus

Men’s League 2025/2026 Golf Season Kickoff Announcement

Hola El Tigre Golfers,

I hope that everyone had a great summer. I know that many of you have already started making plans to return to Mexico this Fall. Congratulations to the 40+ golfers that made it to Kelowna, British Columbia this September, to participate in the maiden Northern Tour golf event coordinated by Alan Bayliss and friends that consisted of three days of golf, wine tours, Welcome reception at Rod Robinson’s place, sunset boating tour and many fabulous meals. The event was a huge success and very much appreciated by all attendees. Many thanks to Alan and his assistants (Ken Wither, Rod Robinson, Colin Rasmussen) for coordinating the event. Thanks also to Steve and Michele Johnson for travelling to Kelowna to participate in the event.

I have been in touch with Steve, and we are all set to kick off our Fall Men’s League golf season. We have scheduled two pre-season Men’s League golf events, similar to last year, that will take place on Wednesday, October 22nd and Wednesday, October 29th. The sign-up calendar has been updated to include these dates, and you can sign up now. Our official season starts on Wednesday, November 5th and you will be able to sign up for this date, tomorrow. Please remember, that like last year, you will be able to sign up for any Men’s League golf event exactly 28 days prior to the start of the golf event and this is a rolling schedule that is updated every day.

I will send out another post on the weekend before our first golf event (Wednesday, October 22nd) to provide everyone with an update concerning the game that we will be playing on October 22nd.

Best regards,

Markus
